What is this?

A health crisis refers to conditions in which a large number of lives are threatened, economic losses are extensive, and the overall health systems are stretched beyond normal capacity due to new and emerging disease patterns, natural disasters, or social forces. Health crises can result from a variety of factors, but often have to do with environmental, economic, or political aspects of the country involved. Health crises can be localized or globalized, can last for an extended period of time, and can have consequences for long-term health and well-being.
